Laura Bofill
BIOGRAPHY
Based and born in Barcelona, 1983
Laura Bofill’s most recent works are large portraits of women wearing colorful flower crowns or adorned with vegetable heads of hair, in an atmosphere of calmness and elegance. Through these enameled paintings, Bofill pays tribute to women and nature, creating a dialogue that revolves around femininity and beauty.
Born into a family of artists, Bofill studied in Barcelona, New York, London and Dublin, with her education encompassing filmmaking, painting, graphic design, photography, textile design and ceramics. Having explored an array of disciplines, she currently focuses on what she enjoys the most: the combination of photography and painting.
Bofill began to work in her family studio, where she learnt to use new materials like resin and glazes. This expertise has allowed her to combine several techniques in her recent works: “I consider myself a craftswoman, and really enjoy working with photographs, paints and resins as part of the creation process.”
Bofill’s compositions – imbued with an oneiric, melancholic, seductive atmosphere – reveal both the fragility and strength of the two elements in her organic world.
